Marcus Allen is an experienced governance risk and compliance professional with over twenty years’ experience working with over one hundred and forty organisations to enhance their governance, risk and compliance frameworks.

Educated at Cheltenham College. He holds the respected Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance from the International Compliance Association and a Master’s degree in ‘Management Learning and Change’ from one of the UK’s leading research universities; the University of Bristol.

Marcus is able to work across different business functions and structures, looking at both technical as well as the all-important ‘softer’ cultural and people issues. At the same time he delivers positive organisational change.

Marcus is Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Institute of Consultants.

GOVERNANCE

He works within the regulated sector to create board induction systems and competence evaluations based around the UK corporate governance code.

He works with a variety of privately owned businesses to define the contextual issues of their businesses with regards to stakeholders; in addition to, managing external and internal issues. The broad range of organisations include: call centres, large security providers, secure destruction houses and the regulated sector.

He has assisted senior management in a debt collection organisation to review the positive impact of ‘learning and change’ to help them embrace more complex integrated management systems. At the same time, he was careful to ensure the required entrepreneurial culture remained.

He Benchmarks various private sector organisations to BS13500; the Standard for Corporate Governance. This defines a credible assessment of achievement of governance against this best practice Standard.

RISK

Marcus reviews risks relating to: cyber security, data security threats, business continuity, anti-bribery controls, and regulatory requirements within the regulated and non-regulated sectors. He utilises ISO31000 as the underpinning model to achieve this.

He communicates to staff the ‘outputs’ of the risk programmes.

He also monitors risk programmes and communicates the consequences and remedies to risk to senior management teams.

COMPLIANCE

He has advised and assisted over one hundred and forty organisations to achieve their desired objectives of becoming registered to internationally recognised systems Standards.

Worked within the regulated sector on integrating SYSC frameworks within 9001. Encompassing ISO27001 data security and competence test frameworks.

Marcus works with numerous organisations on ISO9001 2015 in which he addresses contextual issues.

He has implemented ISO27001 2013, the International Standard for data security, within the division of a world supplier of MRI scanning equipment.

He has also undertaken a review of anti-bribery controls within a UK/US training and development company using BS10500’s.
