The Standard requires that the artificial intelligence design and development processes are adequately developed and managed.
The design process should ideally follow the plan-do-check act cycle and denote key documented objectives.
The design process should highlight these objectives to ensure that clear measures are adopted.
For instance, if transparency and ethics is a feature within the design function, then this requirement should be evident within the design cycle.
The objective selected such as ethical activity and fairness should be referenced within specifications, data development, procurement plans, data modelling, data verification, training and data validation.
The organisation should detail how these requirements are to be deployed within the design life cycle to ensure that AI output addresses the design inputs.
The organisation should deploy robust testing tools to assess that the above functions are operating as required. Results should be recorded.
